Media Journal#4- September26th

Stereotypes exist everywhere in the media, exaggeration, is a commonly used form of stereotyping. An example is stereotyping is gender roles. If the media exaggerates men to be strong individuals that control everything that's what the world will portray them as. If they're presented as unintelligent and clumsy, people will think that of them. If media portrays females to be weak and incompetent or strong and independent, that is how society will view women. If people were judged upon how they are presented in television shows and movies, all people of the same gender would be treated like the exact same person weather it be badly or as royalty.
We need to think about media and how it effects us because if we don't we may assume everything is the same in real life as it is in the media, Like real life situations, if in a sit-com a scenario is over reacted and we have never been faced in that situation before, you may think it is as bad as television makes it out to be. When in reality it's something that can easily be dealt with.
