1. Andy Roddick
2. In the magazine cover Andy is way more muscular and built than in actuality. This gives an image to young males that a man should have muscle.
3. White Males, young adult.
1. Kim Kardasian
2. In this cover, Kim is thinner and more toned. This conveys to young girls that the thinner and toned you are the more beautiful you are.
3. Teenage girls and women in their early twenty's.
4. Both of these images are photo shopped. I chose both a male and female to show that although the audience is different, the mind-set is unfortunately the same. Making young people think they aren't good enough and need to be 'perfect'.
5. The intended audience may very between images and time. Generally if you have an image of a thin attractive female the audience is intended to be young girls. However it can very between gender and age depending on the media. Same goes for a male image. The media very often effects the way we see ourselves very negatively. Images surrounding this topic often encourage eating disorders and disported images of ones body.

Prompt#1- What is Media? February12th
Media is technology displayed to the public to promote a fad, location, item, artist, etc. Media can be defined in many different ways. It can be text, voice or digitally displayed. Images on billboards advertising companies or on a completely different end, a song. A journalism report is considered text media, and is no less important that a television show or movie. We can create our own media by making a poster, article or video. Social media is also a great way to be able to interact with different events and people; it's quick and efficient. (ie: My space, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Flicker, etc.) We share pictures, write random things, interact with other human beings though media. Heck, what I'm doing right now is media. This is media.
The impact of media on my life is that I have no social life other than with a few select people and everyone else I'm like "Naw I have a date with tumblr and music." My family: Oh, you're home for once. Let's watch a movie and have some dinner. Me: I am watching a movie on the interweb and doing homework ain't nobody got time for dinner and family. and that, is how media has impacted my life and probably most of the teenage population.

Media Journal#4- September26th
Stereotypes exist everywhere in the media, exaggeration, is a commonly used form of stereotyping. An example is stereotyping is gender roles. If the media exaggerates men to be strong individuals that control everything that's what the world will portray them as. If they're presented as unintelligent and clumsy, people will think that of them. If media portrays females to be weak and incompetent or strong and independent, that is how society will view women. If people were judged upon how they are presented in television shows and movies, all people of the same gender would be treated like the exact same person weather it be badly or as royalty.
We need to think about media and how it effects us because if we don't we may assume everything is the same in real life as it is in the media, Like real life situations, if in a sit-com a scenario is over reacted and we have never been faced in that situation before, you may think it is as bad as television makes it out to be. When in reality it's something that can easily be dealt with.

Media Journal- September19th
I feel that media need to be responsible especially in social networking, by protecting the users better. Peoples Facebook pictures show up on Google now and the same for other social websites. However, the users of these sites need to be responsible with the things they post. These sites allow people to take your posts and use them against you. People shouldn't have to make their settings privet so even their friends can't find them. It would be one thing if someones profile wasn't protected at all, but no, I protect my pictures and posts and somehow when I looked up pictures of a guy in a band a picture of me and another guy in a band came up. Why does Facebook even when peoples pictures are protected, put your pictures on Google? I don't get it. It's not only Facebook that does it. Twitter and Tumblr do it as well. This isn't completely the websites fault. If someones pictures or profile is not protected they have every right to put their pictures on Google or another website. Most social networking sites even say in their terms and conditions that if your account is not protected they can use your pictures. My only question is why are they still using your pictures if you've done everything you can to protect that?
Games and apps on Facebook bother me because when they ask to use your information and you click no they still use it. Not only is this extremely annoying, but also makes it easier for random people to find you. You will show up in the 'People who use this' section when people use the application. However, if people don't want others to be able to find them this way there is a simple explanation; do not use the app.
I feel if twitter creates a privacy setting where you can block only your pictures in stead of your whole profile or nothing at all, this would solve part of that problem. If Facebook didn't use peoples information for applications at all if would be safer for kids to use. I find tumblr isn't really a place to post pictures of yourself anymore. So if the users on tumblr just didn't use their name, it would be a lot more safe for them and no one would find their profile.

If I had $1000 to donate to hunger relief, I would donate it to Action Against Hunger.
http://www.actionagainsthunger.org/
Action Against hunger is a global organization whose goal is to prevent hunger all over the world. Ninety one cents out of every dollar goes towards food for starving children. I chose this organization because They're highly rated and I've heard a lot about them. They have a 'best in america' seal and are an a-rated company. Their programming spreads to roughly forty countries, helping over five million people each year over the last thirty years. They help get safe and sanitized water for people to drink and are healthy with the food they provide. They have great emergency response helping families through natural disasters and more almost immediately.

Principles Of Media Arts
Duration:
Music notes last a certain amount of beats per measure. Take quarter notes for example; in 4/4 time each quarter note equals one beat, there are four beats per bar.
Hybridization:
To me, this song, or even album separated farther from the bands genre creating a more artsy piece, almost giving it a pop/opera feel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cts6y-v7hhU
Interactivity:
This is an interactive video on YouTube that I found and I'm scared it actually works.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbEei0I3kMQ
Point of view:
This is a broad topic, however this is the way I interpreted it.
I find it interesting how people get offended by symbols on clothing. Crosses can be advertised, but when someone wears a Pentagram around their neck it can be considered gang related, even though its just advertising their beliefs like others do.

To me, media is a collection of ways to broadcast different events and trends to the public. Media is all around us, it is impossible to get through the day without being exposed to it. Media can range from music, stories online and in the news, to television and movies. Interacting with different types of media plays a huge part in our daily lives. I write fanfiction online, people read it. Social Networking sites such as Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook are popular wasy of displaying media wether it be videos, pictures, or status updates about people's lives. People are constantly interactive with each other using different variations of social media. Where would today's society be without television? This is where people see a large amount of media these days. Covering the latest news, entertainment or even just advertisements. Media is always changing, and so is our lives. It has developed farther over the years creating large changes in our society. Becoming more noticed over the past few years, media has changed the way people look at themselves, this includes not only young females, but men as well. People have become uncomfortable in their body due to images in magazines and commercials, things that the public has allowed to become normal aware of this increasing problem all over the world. It is females particularly that seem to be drawn to this type if media, believing they do not have the ideal 'perfect image' and feel that they are over weight or even too thin. This is most commonly found as the trigger to an eating disorder. (http://www.westminstercollege.edu/myriad/index.cfm?parent=...&detail=4475&content=4795)
I have been influenced by the media on multiple occasions, take my style for instance. I wear band t-shirts because I listen to the bands on my shirts and enjoy their music enough to want their name and logo on my clothing. I wear skinny jeans and cut off shorts because in the styles of music I listen to (ie: pop/punk and various types of metal) most of the fans and members of the bands. How I got my eyebrow piercing probably wasn't the smartest, but it was influenced by media. One of my idols has an eyebrow piercing and I thought it looked cool. My entire style is based on popular trend in my fanbases, or media. I watch different television programs based on popular demand, or who says what's good. I believe a lot of people's decisions are based on what they see on TV and what celebrity is wearing what, it has become a big part of our lives and will remain that way
